History of the United Overcomer Church of God In Christ

The conception of this Ministry was formed on October 31, 1992. It was birth under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, with Reverend Stephen Morrison as the Shepherd. Associate to the Shepherd since its conception is Pastor Lincoln Sutherland. Our congregration is multicultural, and has a mixture of Caribbean Americans, African Americans, and Caucausians. We believe in the doctrine of Jesus Christ, and its words documented in the Holy Bible of the King James Version.

For 16 years, this congregation has been a light in the community. We were the first place of worship located in the small store front plaza of our local community in Palm Beach County. During his commencement we began with 30 members. The membership growth over the years now exceeds six hundred percent. We have continued the work of God to win souls for the Kingdom. We are a close knit congregation. Our members are consistently concerned about each other, and the Community.

We have recently acquired a piece of land to enlarge our territory. It is located at 7461 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, Florida 33411. We are continuing to conduct building fund projects on a consistent basis as we look forward to start construction on our new building.

We have several auxillaries in operation. We and our Pastors provide Officiating, singing services at Weddings and Funerals at no charge to members in the Community. We have Youth Meetings monthly entitled Girls Teen Talk, and Young Men’s Gathering in an effort to educate young people regarding prevention of teenage pregnancy. We provide free tutoring to Mathematics students preparing for the FCAT. There is a Mentoring Program that assigns girls to adult women for guidance. Each year our graduates are recognized. The High School graduates are provided with a one time stipend to assist them in their first year of College.
